  • August 24: Climate dynamics perspective of the hemispheric asymmetry in observed polar temperature change.  Lily Hahn and Aaron Donohoe will lead a discussion of Mark England’s GRL paper “The Recent Emergence of Arctic Amplification” (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1029/2021GL094086).
  • August 31: Sea ice trends and variability in the Arctic and Antarctic. Eric Steig and Aaron Donohoe will lead a discussion of Paolo et al. (2018) Response of Pacific-sector Antarctic ice shelves to the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41561-017-0033-0)
  • September 7: Indigenous perspective on climate change. Rondi Nordal and Zho Ragen will lead a discussion of Reid et al. 2020 : “Two-Eyed Seeing”: An Indigenous framework to transform fisheries research and management. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/faf.12516

Dates: Sept. 11-13, 2023, at Friday Harbor Labs on San Juan Island

  • Registration is closed.
  • Carpools will be organized in late summer: We get a group discount – $10 per group who walk on together and $10 per carload of people (plus vehicle fee)
  • Contribute a poster or quick talk — information sent to participants, email uwpcc@uw.edu with questions
  • Graduate students are expected to join the paper discussions in later summer-watch for more information
