Graduate Climate Conference 2024: A step towards interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue in addressing the climate crisis

The Graduate Climate Conference (GCC) provides a unique forum where emerging scientists can exchange ideas, share research and build interdisciplinary collaborations to address the climate crisis. Now in its 18th year, the conference was held on November 1-3, 2024, at the Pack Forest Conference Center, hosting nearly 120 graduate students from institutions in the U.S. and internationally. Organized by graduate students for graduate students, the GCC’s mission is to strengthen student connections and advance climate research in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The 16th Graduate Climate Conference-a return to Pack Forest

The Graduate Climate Conference (GCC), now in its sixteenth year, represents a rich tradition tied to the history of the PCC. First held in 2006, the GCC has grown and evolved while remaining true to its core mission of highlighting student-led work at a conference run by graduate students for graduate students. Hosting responsibilities have alternated each year between students in the PCC at UW and students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s Program on Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate.

Now Accepting Applications for the 2021 Virtual Graduate Climate Conference

We are pleased to announce the 15th Annual Graduate Climate Conference (GCC), which will be held virtually October 29 – 31, 2021. The GCC is an interdisciplinary conference run by graduate students, for graduate students. The organizers of GCC strive to feature a diverse representation of students and research topics to create a broader, more inclusive community for emerging leaders in climate-related fields.

Going the Distance – First ever virtual GCC organized jointly by UW and MIT students explores climate research through climate policy and DEI lenses

The 14th Annual Graduate Climate Conference (GCC) was held virtually for the first time ever over the weekend of October 30 – November 1, 2020, bringing together graduate students across a wide range of disciplines with ‘climate’ as a research theme. This conference is known across the graduate climate community as a “conference for students, by students.”  A team of volunteer graduate students organizes the conference, which is attended exclusively by graduate students at no cost.

PCC Grads Travel to the 11th Annual Graduate Climate Conference

December 5, 2017 by Emma Kahle This November nine UW graduate students traveled east to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts for the 11th annual Graduate Climate Conference  We represented five different UW departments (ESS, ATMS, BIO, CEE, SMEA) and presented talks and posters on a range of topics from a commercial fisherman App that records climate data to using weather forecasting techniques to reconstruct past changes on the Greenland ice sheet.
