I am a Geological Oceanographer investigating the geochemistry of methane hydrates — ice-like compounds found beneath the seafloor that trap methane, a potent greenhouse gas. I work with the UT-GOM2-2 Deepwater Hydrate Coring Expedition, a research team that collects and studies sediment cores from the Gulf of Mexico. Our goal is to understand how hydrate-bearing layers form, evolve, and respond to environmental changes such as climate warming or energy extraction.
