Apply to be a PCC Graduate Student Representative (GSR)

It’s time to select a new Graduate Student Representative (GSR) to the PCC Board! This is an annual process.

The GSRs serve as liaisons between PCC’s graduate students and faculty, postdocs, research scientists, undergraduate cohort, and staff. The role, and duty of the GSRs is to solicit graduate student input on numerous topics over the course of the academic year and to convey this to the PCC Director(s) and Board during various meetings and conversations. This includes sharing slides during PCC Board meetings that outline graduate student activities and priorities, and meeting regularly with the PCC Director and Assistant Director. Although GSRs are expected to represent the students as a whole, they can also bring their own unique perspective to conversations. Therefore, GSRs must have experience with PCC activities and priorities. Recognizing the central role that P-GraSC (PCC graduate student steering committee) plays in organizing the graduate student community, it is also essential that a strong connection be maintained between P-GraSC and the GSRs. Therefore, at least one GSR is expected to attend P-GraSC monthly meetings.

GSRs are intended to serve for two consecutive years, with the aim of having two GSRs in any given year (with one being replaced by a new student each year, such that the new GSR will overlap for one year with the existing GSR). The role begins in September 2026.

The PCC office is collecting nominations/applications for GSR until May 15, 2026. Candidate statements will be shared with PCC graduate students through the pccgrad listserv as part of the GSR selection process.

All current graduate students are eligible to self-nominate through this form. They are asked to describe past involvement with the PCC and plans to serve as a trusted communication partner between the PCC graduate student body and the PCC Board and Director(s), including how they will interact with P-GraSC.
